Agility

The exciting sport of Agility has taken the world by storm. The Agility ring
allows handler and dog to run full speed, while having to perform accurately
and safely on A-Frames, Dog Walks, See-Saws and a wide variety of jumps and
tunnels.
Because Agility is growing so rapidly, many dogs have earned progressively
more difficult titles, from Novice Agility (NA), Open Agility (OA), and Agility
Excellent (AX) to Master Agility Excellent (MX).
Additional titles are Jumpers
with Weaves Novice (NAJ), Open (OAJ), and Excellent (MXJ), which leads to the
supreme title of Master Agility Champion (MACH), where a dog has to earn 750 points
(based upon the speed of sound), while double qualifying in each run through a
course that requires both speed and accuracy.
Cocker Spaniels are one of the breeds which not only enjoy agility work,
but excel in competition. Their size, compact bodies and eagerness to please make
them ideal candidates for the sport of agility.
Photos for this section:
(Top) Ears flying, International Champion S'Posan's Jamican Me Crazy, CGC, NA, NAJ
takes off over the double bar jump as she soars to her first Novice Standard Agility
Leg, only 2 more to go for that wonderful first title! JamieJane is out of
International and American Champion Quasar's Rebel Rouser and Moody's Trianon,
bred by her owners and Jane and Paul Moody, and owned and loved by Sandy Roland and
Jan Sauer, S'Posan's Cockers.
(Middle) Without a doubt, Tootsie loves agility from the tip of her nose to the tip of
her toes! She is pictured here fully extended as she soars over a jump in April 2001.
She is officially known as CH Dunmorr's Tootsie Pop, NA, NAJ (UKC CH Monarch's KG Sir
Edward CDX, UCDX, OA, OAJ, AG2 x CH Kamay's Dunmorr Suzy Q), and was bred by,
owned and handled by Kris Gleason Morrow and Peter Morrow.
(Bottom) You are only as old as you think you are, and Annie is living proof.
At 9 years of age it was obvious that Annie needed more exercize, so she came along
to agility training classes and loved it! Now she looks so much younger and feels better,
too! She has come within seconds of earning her first leg several times, and we
are having fun trying! She is S'Posan's Little Orphan Annie, CDX, CGC, and is the dam
of 5 Champions, including Tory and Katy. Annie was bred, owned and loved by Sandy
Roland, S'Posan's Cockers.
