Iceland is a small country and our dog registry is also small, some would say tiny: Our registry for Am. Cockers is around 30 each year, and we only have 3 all breed shows each year where dogs can get CC and CACIB´s, which is an International CC granted by FCI.

For the last two years we have had from 5 and up to 14 Am. Cockers at each show, pretty much like one class in most countries.

All breeding stock over here is of course based on imported dogs and they come from both the UK and US (all together 3 males and 5 females).

At our shows we have several different classes:
All colours are in same class, so there is both solids and partis in ring at the same time.

Puppy class: 6 - 9 mos. no CC winner in each breed competes for best puppy in show.

Junior class: 9 -15 mos. no CC except if they are so good that the judge decides to let them go up to open competition class, to do that he has to give them 1grade and cert (prise of honour)

Junior class: 15-24 mos. same as for the younger junior class.

Open class: over 24 mos. same as for juniors that is to 1 grade and then go on to open competition class with all juniors that got cert, and then the judge will place them and give out his CC.

Champion class: for all dogs which are already CH. and if the judge decides that they are worthy of being CH they can go on to compete for best male or female, with all dogs from open class.

It is the same for both males and females.

The first show of 2001 was held on March 3-4, where we had 8 Am.Cockers. The best male was ISCH Jaclee About Tan Time a 6 year old (import from UK), second was AM CH Detor´s Curtain Call little over 2 years (import from US) and he got his second CC, he was also the only parti at this show.

The best female was Silfurskugga Lady In Black 12.5 month old, she also went best of breed and group 3rd.
