Columbia Columbia

reported by Claudia Schultheis.

The Colombian Kennel Club (ACCC) was founded in 1956 with base in Bogotá; It is a nonprofitable organization that works for the sake of the conservation of pure breeds. It works in conjunction with the AKC, the FCI, SICALAM and the Canadian Kennel Club between others.

There are other city kennel clubs in the country subscribed to the ACCC and various breed kennel clubs.

SHOWS here are about 17 circuit shows per year in different cities of Colombia, which are recognized by the ACCC.

International Show: where the CACIB can be obtained (certificate for International Championship) given by the Federation Cynologique Internationale under judges criteria.

And recently the CACLAB (certificate for the Latin American Championship) given by the SICALAM.

National Show: where the CACC (certificate for the Colombian Championship) and the CAGCC (certificate for the Great Colombian Championship) can be given to judges criteria.

Breed specialty shows: authorized by the ACCC, where CACC could be given.

Ranking Show or Champions parade: is a promotional show where the best dogs of the country are invited to compete for the dog of the year.

Dogs that are entered in a show need to be Microchipped as their number will be checked before entering the ring.

No dogs bred or sold by the judge are able to participate.

JUDGEMENT SYSTEM

For all the shows organized or recognized by the Colombian kennel Club (ACCC), the breeds will be divided in 10 groups recognized by the Federation Cynologyque Internacionale (FCI).

For the group judgment, groups 7 and 8 and 4, 6 and 10 will be judged together.

In Cockers and other breeds like Schnauzers, Poodles, etc the winners of best of variety which have an excellent qualification given by the judge, participate in the group.

The different classes and categories are similar to the AKC.

JUDGES

Those Judges invited to International Shows will judge with the license of their Country of origin or residency and with the approved license to judge the breed or group.

The Best in Show is always judged by a judge licensed to judge all breeds and recognized by the FCI.

For the judgment of the National Shows where the CCAC certificate for the Colombian Championship is given, judges must have the license of their Country or residency of origin and be licensed to judge at least 50 % of the breeds in the group.

To be able to judge the best in show, they would either need a FCI license for all breeds or in case of belonging to another association like the AKC, be licensed to judge at least 4 FCI groups.

No judge that had already judged in Colombia in International or national shows would be able to do it again before a period of 24 months.

Colombian Championship

In order to obtain the Colombian Championship a dog needs to have obtained: 4 CACC certificates given by 4 different judges, in other words he needs to have won his category for 4 times.

20 points for his championship; in breeds with less competitors, the dog has to have entered twice in the group. In breeds where more dogs are entered, the dog has to have defeated at least twice 5 dogs in his category.

The dog that won best of breed can add more points if he defeats in the group a dog with more points, but only being able to obtain 5 points per show.

Visiting dogs entered in a special circuit and who once finished will return to their Country of origin will only need 10 points to finish the Colombian Championship, if they do not accomplish this on one circuit they would need to obtain the 20 points.

To obtain the Great Colombian Championship, the dog has to be already a Colombian champion, to have obtained 4 CAGCC and to have defeated at least twice, three champions.

International Championship

In International shows, the CACIB will be given under judges criteria to the best of breed and best of opposite sex, only if they are older than 15 months.

4 CACIBS are needed in order to complete the International Championship, three of these CACIBS must be obtained in 3 different Countries under different judges and one of them in the Country of residency or origin of the breed.

There is a time frame of 1 year to obtain the 4 CACIBS.
