reported by Ludi Mundi Kennel.
Chile is a FCI country: the American Cocker Spaniel is a breed of VIII Group including Retrievers, Flushing Dogs and Water Dogs; there aren’t more entries for color. The official FCI agency here is the KCC (Chilean Kennel Club, www.kennelclub.cl only Spanish language)
There aren’t clubs of breed or Spaniels or of VIII Group at the moment. For 2011 Calendar aren’t program specialty or limited shows.
The KCC make every year a official National Ranking for Entries, Breeds, Groups and All Breeds.
The KCC is member of SICALAM (Company of South American Dogs Excange, www.sicalam.org.ar only Spanish language) with other 16 countries. The SICALAM organize a dog show circuit who change its place every year. The last Chilean SICALAM was in 2009, October.
SHOWS
The most important Chilean dog show is the “Copa de los Andes” (Cup of Andes). It is a international circuit of 4 show every October in Santiago, the Chilean capital.Other remarkable shows are the January circuit in Santiago with 3 International Shows and the “circuito de Semana Santa” (Easter’s circuit) in Viña del Mar (located in the Chilean Central Coast, one hour of car far from Santiago) in March or Abril with 3 International Shows. Every month there are a dog show week-end with 2 or 3 shows, with exception for December and February (the Chilean holiday months). The most part of dog shows is located in Santiago. The Ranking annual time opens in January and ends in November.
The classes are:
1.“Especiales”, for male and female puppies 3-6 months old;
2.“Cachorros”, for male and female puppies 6-9 months old;
3.“Jóvenes”, for dogs and bitches 9-18 months old;
4.“Intermedia”, for dogs and bitches 15-24 months old;
5.“Abierta”, for dogs and bitches 15 months old and over;
6.“Campeones”, for Champions of Chile or others countries;
7.“Veteranos”, for dogs and bitches 8 years old and over.
RANKING and CHAMPIONSHIP
The Chilean Rankings are different for “Especiales”,“Cachorros”, “Jóvenes” and “Adultos”; the “Adultos” ranking entry includes the “Intermedia”, “Abierta”, “Campeones” and “Veteranos” classes. The Breed Rankings reward the BOB and the BOS of the year in each entry. At the Group and All Breeds “Adultos” Rankings are allowed only the dogs with hight participation in the rings (the half and one show or more in the year).
The Championships are:
1.“Joven Campeón de Chile”, with 3 CJAC (Champion Junior Challenge) in “Jóvenes” class;
2.“Campeón de Chile”, with 5 CAC (Champion Challenge) in “Intermedia” or “Abierta” classes;
3.“Gran Campeón de Chile”, with 7 CGAC (Great Champion Challenge) in “Campeones” class.
Each challenge must be assigned by a different Judge. The Judges are from FCI, AKC and UKC countries.
The foreign dogs have facilities in circuits to obtain his title of Chilean Champion (only 2 or 3 challenges are required).
For the participation in all Chilean Dog Show the Rabies Vaccination and microchip are required over 6 months of age since 2009. Unfortunately at the moment there are many problems with the dogs safety in show in spite of some complaints (unsuited locations without protected spaces for the exhibitors).
The KCC International Dog Show allow to obtain the challenges for International FCI Championship (CACIB) and South American Championship (CACLAB).
Chile has many Agility Clubs but at the moment there isn’t a national championship of Agility. Occasionally at the interior of Dog Show International circuits there are other competitions:
- Junior handling
- Agility
- Brace, Breeders and Progeny, following the FCI rules.
